PDF documents often contain valuable high-resolution photographs, illustrations, and graphic assets. In this guide, you will learn the difference between extracting raw embedded bitmap images and rasterizing full pages, plus how to batch-export assets to ZIP.
Raw Embedded Extraction vs Page Rendering
PDF documents store imagery in two fundamentally distinct ways:
- Raw Embedded Images (Lossless): Direct extraction of the original JPEG, PNG, or WebP bitmap files stored inside the PDF object streams. This extracts images at their original camera/author resolution without re-compression.
- Full Page Rendering: Rasterizes entire PDF pages (including vector typography, shapes, and layouts) into high-resolution PNG images up to 600 DPI.
Step-by-Step Extraction Guide

Frequently Asked Questions
Will extracting images reduce their quality or resolution?
In Raw Embedded Mode, images are extracted at 100% original quality directly from internal streams without re-encoding.
Can I extract images from scanned PDFs?
Yes! Scanned PDFs are essentially image containers. PDFRack extracts the full-resolution scanned page images immediately.
